Fear not ...

Fear thou not
For I [God] am with thee:
Be not dismayed;
For I am thy God:
I [God] will strengthen thee [you];
yea, I [God] will help thee;
Yea, I [God] will uphold thee [you]
with the right hand of my righteousness.

Naturalista .. I'm Proud

I loving this era where everywhere I turn
I see most people going natural
Embracing their natural hair
And finding different ways to look beautiful
Without adding anything

I think its the new appreciation of  being 'Proud to be me'
Or maybe its just a phase
Another season in the fashion/hair world

But I'm really glad for this season
Because now, I can get unlimited ideas of how to care and not care my hair
How to wrap or do an up-do to my hair
Or even tips of caring my twist-outs

Here are a few ideas from my pinterest Hairstyle board:

And my all time favorite (below) ... Up -do bun! :)

Quotes ...

You may not control all the events that happen to you
But you can decide not to be reduced by them.

Try to be a rainbow in someone else's cloud
 Do not complain.

Make every effort to change things you do not like.
If you cannot make a change,
change the way you have been thinking.
You might find a new solution.”

Still I Rise

This is one of my favorite pieces from Maya Angelou ..
A woman's poet I so admire and love.
Yet 'Still I Rise"

You may write me down in history
With your bitter, twisted lies,
You may trod me in the very dirt
But still, like dust, I'll rise.

Does my sassiness upset you?
Why are you beset with gloom?
'Cause I walk like I've got oil wells
Pumping in my living room.

Just like moons and like suns,
With the certainty of tides,
Just like hopes springing high,
Still I'll rise.

Did you want to see me broken?
Bowed head and lowered eyes?
Shoulders falling down like teardrops.
Weakened by my soulful cries.

Does my haughtiness offend you?
Don't you take it awful hard
'Cause I laugh like I've got gold mines
Diggin' in my own back yard.

You may shoot me with your words,
You may cut me with your eyes,
You may kill me with your hatefulness,
But still, like air, I'll rise.

Does my sexiness upset you?
Does it come as a surprise
That I dance like I've got diamonds
At the meeting of my thighs?

Out of the huts of history's shame
I rise
Up from a past that's rooted in pain
I rise
I'm a black ocean, leaping and wide,
Welling and swelling I bear in the tide.
Leaving behind nights of terror and fear
I rise
Into a daybreak that's wondrously clear
I rise
Bringing the gifts that my ancestors gave,
I am the dream and the hope of the slave.
I rise .... I rise ... I rise

Be Salt, Be Light ... Be Salyte!

In your going out and coming in
In your grocery shopping and market trips
In your attending church and washing the vehicle
In cleaning the house and planting trees outside

Let Jesus be seen in ALL your doings
Let the light of Jesus shine so brightly from within
Be salt and light of the earth

Be Salyte!

Be Salt ....
Be Light ....
Be Salyte!

Have a great weekend everybody! :)

He will supply

That really speaks to me.
This reading is taken from
Matthew 6: 25-34
Enjoy :)

Therefore I say unto you,
Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink;
nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on.
Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment?

Behold the fowls of the air:
for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns;
yet your heavenly Father feedeth them.
Are ye not much better than they?

Which of you by taking thought
can add one cubit unto his stature?

And why take ye thought for raiment?
Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin:

And yet I say unto you,
That even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.

Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field,
which to day is, and to morrow is cast into the oven,
shall he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith?

Therefore take no thought, saying,
What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink?
or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed?

(For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:)
for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things.

But seek ye first the kingdom of God,
and his righteousness;
and all these things shall be added unto you.

Take therefore no thought for the morrow:
for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself.
Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.

These verses give assurance to me
That whatever I have need of
My God will supply!

Its Bible Study Night!!! :)
Its mid-week already  .. It's Wednesday!

The way of Love

I ain't no Love guru
But its been on my heart
To share this with you.

If I speak with human eloquence and angelic ecstasy
but don’t love, I’m nothing
but the creaking of a rusty gate.
~
If I speak God’s Word with power,
revealing all His mysteries and making everything plain as day,
and if I have faith that says to a mountain,
“Jump,” and it jumps, but I don’t love, I’m nothing.
~
If I give everything I own to the poor
and even go to the stake to be burned as a martyr,
but I don’t love, I’ve gotten nowhere.
So, no matter what I say, what I believe, and what I do,
I’m bankrupt without love.
 ~
Love never gives up.
Love cares more for others than for self.
Love doesn’t want what it doesn’t have.
Love doesn’t strut (definition of strut),
Doesn’t have a swelled head,
Doesn’t force itself on others,
Isn’t always “me first,”
Doesn’t fly off the handle,
Doesn’t keep score of the sins of others,
Doesn’t revel when others grovel,
Takes pleasure in the flowering of truth,
Puts up with anything,
Trusts God always,
Always looks for the best,
Never looks back,
But keeps going to the end.
~
Love never dies.
Inspired speech will be over some day;
praying in tongues will end; understanding will reach its limit.
We know only a portion of the truth,
and what we say about God is always incomplete.
But when the Complete arrives, our incomplete(s) will be canceled.
~
When I was an infant at my mother’s breast,
I gurgled and cooed like any infant.
When I grew up, I left those infant ways for good.
~
We don’t yet see things clearly.
We’re squinting in a fog, peering through a mist.
But it won’t be long before the weather clears and the sun shines bright!
We’ll see it all then, see it all as clearly as God sees us,
knowing him directly just as he knows us!
 ~
But for right now, until that completeness,
we have three things to do to lead us toward that consummation:
Trust steadily in God, hope unswervingly, love extravagantly.
And the best of the three is LOVE.

Big up to the BIG One!! :)

I just want to take the time out
To give thanks to God
For being my Protector
My personal body-guard [If I can so freely say]

He's not one to walk with baton, knife or gun
No weapon for that matter
He's just powerful like that!

Just wanna give a shout out
[Like one of those Christmas greetings ..lol..
All the way from Kingston, Jamaica]
Big up .. lol... to the
All Sovereign, All Powerful
All Everything God
None other than King Jesus Himself!!

Be still and let God protect you
Be still and let God fight your battle(s)
Be still and God will take very good care of you
If you allow Him!

Its Friday ya'll!!!! :)

Thoughts:: Can I big up Jesus? Give Him a shout-out? :)
*seems weird but we can in our own way*

A woman's question

The poem  you are about to read below is not owned by me. I borrowed it (without his permission) from the book titled 'I kissed dating goodbye' by Joshua Harris [page 173-74]. The poem, however, was written by Lena Lathrop which speaks particularly to men. Though a bit long, its worth the read.

Do you know you have asked for the costliest thing
Ever made by the Hand above?
A woman's heart, a woman's life -
And a woman's wonderful love.

Do you know you have asked for this priceless thing
As a child might ask for a toy?
Demanding what others have died to win,
With the reckless dash of a boy.

You have written my lesson of duty out,
Manlike, you have questioned me.
Now stand at the bars of my woman's soul
Until I shall question thee.

You require your mutton shall always be hot,
Your socks and your shirt be whole;
I require your heart be true as God's stars
And as pure as His heaven - your soul.

You require a cook for your mutton and beef,
I require a far greater thing;
A seamstress you're wanting for socks and shirts-
I look for a man and a king.

A king for the beautiful realm called Home,
And a man that his Maker, God
Shall look upon as He did on the first
And say: 'It is very good."

I am fair and young, but the rose may fade
From this soft young cheek one day;
Will you love me then 'mid the falling leaves,
As you did 'mong the blossom of May?

Is your heart an ocean so strong and true,
I may launch my all on its tide?
A loving woman finds heaven or hell
On the day she is made a bride.

I require all things that are grand and true,
All things that a man should be;
If you give this all, I would stake my life
To be all you demand of me.

If you cannot be this, a laundress and cook
You can hire and little to pay;
But a woman's heart and a woman's life
Are not to be won that way.

The Lord's Prayer

Many a times we 'speed' through this prayer so fast
No one could even catch us
No one even knows this prayer like we do
But have we ever taken the time to read and understand each line
How important this prayer is?
And so, I did us the honor
Got the words
So we can read it
And ensure that we know what it is that we say
Our Father who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come.
Thy will be done
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread,
and forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us,
and lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
 For thine is the kingdom,
and the power, and the glory,
for ever and ever.
Amen.

Thank you for taking the time to do this with me.
**Ponders to self** Is this the Lord's Prayer or Is it ours? Shouldn't this be our daily prayer?
What do you think?
Happy Monday :)

Though it tarry .. Wait

While reading Teja's Thoughts Wait for it on her blog
I was reminded of the scripture
Habakkuk 2:3 which reads,
"For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie: though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry."

Sometimes we as humans
We get so impatient, we want everything to happen quickly
We ask for X, we want X now
Not tomorrow, Not an hour later
But now

But sometimes God wants us to wait a bit
Trust Him a little while longer
Continue having faith that you will receive 'it' one day
[whatever your it may be]
Afterall, God knows best right?
Especially where timing is concerned

I'm waiting for my promise
Positioning myself for that promise
Though it take a while
It shall come!!

"Though my wait seems like forever, when my promise comes at the RIGHT time... I'll appreciate it even greater" - Chrisandra Grant

Endure ...

Ever started a project or task
And for some reason, you just cant be bothered to continue?
Whether it be you don't have the strength, the time
Too lazy or just down right cya badda?
I've had those days

It's good when you have persons depending on you
It somewhat pushes you to do and even to go on
What if you never had a dependent,
You gonna just give up
And throw that hard work out the door?
Maybe it is that you have lost inspiration
I say, find that one thing that pushed you in the first place and continue
It's never too late to continue an unfinished task
[As long as there's life ... finish what you began]
It could be that you're just too lazy to do it
I've had those day too
But I force myself up .. I shake off that lazy devil,
Get pumped (whether music or exercise)
And try to get back on track

Grateful

"What Does Easter Mean to You?"
Was the question asked by a CVM TV [a local station in Jamaica] reporter over the weekend.

I was shocked by the answers given!
The most common answers were:
Bun & Cheese, Fry Fish (Sprat) and Parties!!!!!
I couldn’t believe my ears,
Just a few said they reflected on what Christ did for them.

It made me wonder?
How does God feel that the Greatest Sacrifice ever made was reduced to Traditions and Bun and Cheese??!!!??
I think I know how He must feel.
It really hurts, when I’ve done my best for someone, and it’s not even regarded.

I started to get upset,
He died for me………. His friend!
I’m not like those ungodly people, I cherish the Cross.

Then that small still voice reminded me,
He died for me - a SINNER!
And I still Sin... So who am I to Judge?
Have I reduced the cross to traditions as well?
Singing and playing at services has become the norm.
But am I cherishing the “Old Rugged Cross”?

We all have come short of his Glory……
Let us not reduce God's “Greatest Gift” to mere traditions.
But lets make him proud, that His blood that was shed was not in vain!
